Initial Thoughts: I love that this runs on battery! It would be awesome if it went faster than 10 miles per hour, however the average human walking speed is about 3 miles per hour, so in comparison the benefits are quite obvious. I totally want to rent one just to do figure 8’s in a parking lot. If the inventor can fit some solar panels on this machine for extra battery life, this product would be perfect. Heck, let’s push this product further and realize the graphic design potential, personalize the ride yo! Pimp My Eni! I can see someone building a body suit/armor for this and cosplaying as a Transformer.
FTW: The mechanics of this product are great! Not to mention the guy says “It feels alive!”, which of course makes me think of Metal Gear (fellow gamer geeks will understand this excitement)! Also, the inventor created this product to have fun with his conventional unicyclist girlfriend, thus making this product made from love! How often does that happen?
FTL: This product is the Segway after coming back from a war with missing limbs. Yes, the Segway is so friggin corporate that it’s a yuppie’s dream toy, you still can’t deny that the Segway is “the leader in personal, green transportation”.
Final Thought: Since this product is still looking for investors, it can still set itself up to do things better than the Segway. I want the eniCycle to go for a different market than the Segway. If the eniCycle can be economically mass-produced and have a price tag of $300 (rather than the over $3000 price tag for the Segway), I can see kids saving up for one of these and playing games similar to field hockey, I can see muscle car shops pimping the eniCycle’s speed to over 10 mph and having races on tracks with lots of turns (please wear a helmet though, the other bones in your body can be replaced). I’m not anti-corporate, I simply believe that Segway has that market covered. So here’s to the eniCycle, make the dreams of kids and geeks come true!
